CHAPTER 04 : "A GIFT OF LOVE"

The next day, Kashi decided to show her gratitude by inviting Veer over for dinner. It was a simple yet heartfelt gesture that she hoped would convey how much his presence meant to her and she also wanted veer to meet her mother. She spent the day preparing a variety of dishes, pouring all her love and appreciation into the meal.

In the evening, Veer arrived, dressed in his usual understated yet elegant attire. He watched Kashi from a distance as she tended to her mother's needs. Her soft voice, comforting Anjali, was like a soothing melody. He admired her resilience and the love she showered on her ailing mother. It was a stark contrast to the harshness of her father, Ravi, who had shown no compassion.

He had been around for weeks now, investigating the fraudulent activities that plagued his company. But more importantly, he had gotten to know Kashi. She was a whirlwind of energy, juggling multiple jobs, and yet, there was a gentleness in her that he found captivating. She deserved better, and he was determined to make sure she got it.

Kashi greeted him at the door with a warm smile. "Aaiye, Veer ji. Aaj aapko mere haath ka bana khana khilate hai."

( Come, Veer ji. Today I will make you have food prepared by me).

Veer smiled back, his eyes twinkling.

They sat down to eat, and Veer was struck by the effort Kashi had put into the meal. Each dish was a reflection of her love and care. Anjali joined them at the table, her face glowing with happiness as she greeted veer.

"Toh tum ho veer. Bohot suna hi tumhare bare mein Kashi se".(So you are Veer. I have heard a lot about you from Kashi), Anjali said smiling.

"Namaste, Aunty ji," Veer replied respectfully. "Aapka treatment kaisa chal raha hai?" (Aunty how is treatment going?)

Anjali sighed. "Bas Chal raha hai, beta. Kashi hi sab sambhalti hai."

(It's just getting by son , Kashi takes care of everything.)

Veer looked at Kashi with admiration. "Aunty aap aur Kashi bohut strong ho. Aap dono ki jitni tareef ki jaye, kam hai."

(Aunty you and Kashi are very strong. It would never be enough how much ever i praise you both.)

As they ate, they shared stories and laughter. Veer found himself feeling more at home than he had in a long time. The warmth of Kashi's home and the genuine affection they shared made him feel like he belonged here

After dinner, they sat in Anjali's room, sipping chai. Anjali looked at Veer with a twinkle in her eye. "Veer, Kashi ko bohot dher baad itna khush dhekha hai.Aur iski vajah tum ho. Tumhara aabhar kaise maanun?"

(Veer, after a very long time, i have seen Kashi so happy, and you are the reason behind it. I can't thank you enough!)

Veer shook his head. "Aunty ji, aap mujhe aise mat kahiye. Kashi aur aap mere liye family jaise hain." ( Aunty ji please don't say this, you and Kashi are like family to me)

As they were talking, Kashi came to Anjali's room after settling the kitchen.

"Kya baat chal Rahi hai mujhe bhi btayi ye na" (So what are you both talking about, tell me also) she said approaching her mother and veer.

"Kuch nahi bas aunty se unka haal chal puch raha tha", (Nothing special, I was just asking aunty about her health)veer replied nonchalantly.

Kashi nodded.

"Kashi, tumhare phone ka kya hua? Kal button bhi sahi se kaam nahi kar raha the." (Kashi what happened with your phone? Yesterday the buttons were also not working properly....)

Kashi looked up, surprised by his concern. "Yeh purana phone hai, Veer ji. Naya lene ka soch nahi sakti abhi. Paisa bachaana hai maa ke treatment ke liye." ( Veer ji, this is an old phone , I can't think about buying a new one right now, i have to save money for mom's treatment)

Veer nodded, understanding the constraints she faced. "Tumhare liye ek chhota sa gift hai.(Kashi, I have brought a gift for you)" He pulled out a sleek new smartphone from his pocket and handed it to her.

Kashi's eyes widened in shock. "Veer ji, yeh to bahut mehenga lagta hai. Main yeh nahi le sakti?"(Veer ji, it looks very expensive, I can't take it!)

"Isse tumhare kaam mein madad milegi, aur tumhe abhi zaroorat bhi hai," (It will help you in your work and you are definitely in need of it right now )Veer insisted gently. "Please, mana mat karo. Samjho ki yeh tumhare hard work ka reward hai."(Please don't say no, think of it as a reward for your hardwork).

But Kashi kept refusing him.

Aunty aap samjhaye na Kashi ko (Aunty please make her understand) , he pleaded through his eyes to Anjali.

Kashi beta, veer itne pyaar se tumhare liye gift laya hai, ese mnaa nahi karte, (Kashi,Veer has brought you this gift with so much love, don't say no like that) Anjali said to Kashi with smile and eyes slightly welled up with tears.

Tears glistening in Kashi's eyes as she accepted the gift. "Thank you so much, Veer ji. Aap bahut achhe hain."(You are a very good person).

Veer smiled, a warmth spreading in his chest. "Mujhe khushi hai ki tumhe pasand aaya. (I'm happy that you liked it.)

Anjali watched the exchange, her heart swelling with pride and hope for her daughter's future. She knew that with Veer by her side, Kashi was destined for great things.

As the night drew to a close, Veer prepared to leave".Kashi accompanied Veer to the gate to see him off."

Kashi, veer called

"Hanji Veer Ji", (Yes, veer ji) Kashi said softly

"Main tumse kuch zaruri baat karna chahta hoon." (I want to talk about something very important to you.)

"Hanji Veer ji. Kya baat hai?" (Yes, Veer ji. What is it?)

He took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. "Mujhe pata hai ki tumhari maa ka treatment bahut mehenga hai. Tum bahut mehnat karti ho, lekin kabhi kabhi extra madad ki zarurat padti hai. Main chahta hoon ki tum yeh paisa lo aur apni maa ka ilaj aur achhe se karwao."

(I know your mother's treatment is very expensive and you are working extremely hard to cover everything but sometimes you need some extra help. I want you to keep this money and get your mother even better and advanced treatment.)

He held out an envelope filled with money towards her. Kashi's eyes widened, and she immediately shook her head, stepping back.

"Nahi, Veer ji. Main yeh nahi le sakti. Aapne already meri bahut madad ki hai. Main aapko abb aur burden nahi dena chahti."

(No, Veer ji. I can't take this money. You have already done so much for me. I can't burden you anymore).

Veer's heart ached at her refusal, knowing how much she needed the money. "Kashi, yeh koi burden nahi hai mere liye. Main bas tumhari madad karna chahta hoon. Tumhari maa ki health sabse zyada zaruri hai."

(Kashi, this is not a burden for me. I just want to help you out. Your mother's health is our utmost priority.)

Kashi remained firm, her voice soft but resolute. "Aapki madad ke liye main shukraguzaar hoon, Veer ji. Lekin main apni zimmedari khud sambhalna chahti hoon. Yeh mere liye aur maa ke liye important hai."

(I'm extremely thankful for your help, Veer ji but I want to take care of my responsibilities on my own. This is important for me and my mother.)

Vishwanath saw the determination in her eyes and respected her decision, even though it frustrated him. He nodded, putting the envelope back in his pocket. "Thik hai, Kashi. Jaise tum chahti ho." (Ok Kashi, if that is what you want! )

After going home, Vishwanath devised a plan. He couldn't just stand by and do nothing. He decided to help her secretly, in a way that wouldn't hurt her pride.

The next morning, Vishwanath visited the local clinic where Anjali received her treatment. He found the head nurse and requested her to come aside, ensuring their conversation remained private.

Madam main ek zaruri baat karne aaya hoon, (Mam, I'm here to talk about something important with you)" he began, handing her a large sum of money.

"Yaha ek patient aate hai regular dialysis ke liye, Anjali Sharma yeh paise unke treatment ke liye hai. Lekin yeh baat unko yaa unki beti ko pata nahi chalni chahiye. Aap yeh paise istemal karke unka treatment aur achhe se kariye."

(A patient named Anjali Sharma comes to your clinic for regular dialysis, this money is for her treatment , but please make sure that she or her daughter doesn't come to know about it. Get her the best possible treatment, using this money ). He also offered the head nurse good money to do the work

The nurse looked surprised but nodded in understanding. "Ji, samajh gayi."Aap chinta matt kariye unhe iss bare mein kuch pta nahi chalega".

(Ok, i understand, you don't worry they will not come to know anything about it.)

Vishwanath nodded firmly and felt a sense of relief wash over him. He knew this was the right thing to do.

As he left the clinic, he couldn't help but think of Kashi's face when she would notice the improved care her mother was receiving and smiled.

Days passed, and Vishwanath observed from a distance as Kashi's worries seemed to ease. She mentioned to him that the clinic had suddenly started providing better care for her mother, even offering some additional treatments that were previously unaffordable.

One evening, as they sat together, Kashi shared her amazement. "Veer ji, pata nahi kaise, lekin clinic ne maa ka ilaj aur accha karna shuru kar diya hai. Pehle jo treatment hum afford nahi kar sakte the, wo ab mil pa raha hai. Vaha ki head nurse ne mujhe bataya ki yeh sab ek nayi sarkari yojna ke tehat ho raha hai. Lagta hai Bhagwan ji ne hamari sun li.

("Veer Ji, I don't know how, but the clinic has started treating Maa much better. We are now able to get the treatment that we couldn't afford before. The head nurse told me that it's all happening under a new government scheme. It seems like God has heard our prayers.")

Vishwanath smiled, his heart swelling with warmth. "Kabhi kabhi achhi cheezein bina kisi wajah ke ho jaati hain, Kashi. Shayad yeh bhi unhi mein se ek hai." ("Sometimes good things happen without any reason, Kashi. Maybe this is one of those times.")

Kashi nodded, her face softening. "Haan, shayad aisa hi hai. Bhagwan ka shukriya, aur aapka bhi, Veer ji. Aapki duaon se sab theek ho raha hai."

("Yes, maybe that's true. Thank God, and thank you too, Veer Ji. Everything is getting better because of your prayers.")

Vishwanath's smile deepened, knowing he had managed to help her without compromising her sense of independence. He watched her tend to her mother with renewed energy, feeling grateful that he could make a difference in her life, even if it was from the shadows.

In that moment, he realized that sometimes, true kindness doesn't need recognition. It only needs a willing heart and the courage to act.
