CHAPTER 2 : "GROWING PROXIMITY"

The rest of the time passed in a blur of orders and customer interactions for Kashi. By the time her shift ended, she was already thinking about her next job at the textile factory. She hurried home to check on her mother before heading out again, her thoughts lingering on the mysterious customer she had met earlier.

Veer(Vishwanath), on the other hand, was equally intrigued by Kashi. As he continued his investigation, he found himself drawn back to Kashi.

Veer walked through the crowded market area. He was on a mission, still disguised as a commoner, to investigate the fraudulent activities causing losses to his company. His search had led him to a local textile factory known for its quality fabrics, the factory unit was under Singhania Textile Group.

The textile factory, is a crucial part of the Singhania Group's supply chain, appears to be a model of productivity and efficiency on the surface but is recently plagued with irregularities and has become epicentre of the fraudulent activities that had been occuring lately. Little did he know that this visit would lead him to another encounter with Kashi.

The factory was located in a modest building at the edge of the market. As Veer approached, he noticed the steady hum of machinery and the rhythmic chatter of workers. He walked in, blending with the crowd, his eyes scanning the room for any signs of malpractice.

Suddenly, his attention was drawn to a familiar figure moving gracefully among the workers, her presence commanding respect and admiration. It was Kashi, her long hair tied back in a loose braid, her face flushed with the effort of her work. She was overseeing the quality control section, diligently checking each piece of fabric that came her way.

Veer watched her for a moment, a smile tugging at his lips. He admired her dedication and the way she handled her responsibilities with such grace. Gathering himself, he approached her, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Kashi?" he called out softly.

Kashi turned, her eyes widening in surprise. "Aree Aap yahan?" (Ohh you here?)

He smiled, trying to appear nonchalant. "Haan, bas yahan kaam se aaya tha. Tum yahan kaam karti ho?"(Yaa, I came here for some work. Do you work here?)

Kashi nodded, a shy smile spreading across her face. "Yeh meri doosri job hai. Subha cafe aur shaam ko yahan"(Yes, this is my second job. I work at a cafe in the morning and here in the evening).

Veer was genuinely impressed by her work ethic and determination.Tum sach mein bohot hardworking ho." (You are really so hardworking!)

As they talked, the initial surprise faded, replaced by a warm, comfortable camaraderie. Veer felt a sense of ease with Kashi that he rarely experienced with anyone else. Their conversation was interrupted by another colleague, who asked Kashi to inspect a new batch of fabrics.

"Ek minute, a.... Apka naam?,(One minute, w....what's your name?)" Kashi asked with a cute confused face.

Veer, He replied smiling.

Ek minute Veer ji ,(One minute Veer Ji) "Mujhe yeh dekhne dijiye."(Let me check this) She said softly excusing herself.

Veer watched as she meticulously examined the fabrics, her focus unwavering. He couldn't help but admire her dedication and the way she carried herself with such quiet confidence. When she finished, she returned to him, her smile radiant.

"Tumhein itni mehnat karte hue dekh kar mujhe motivation milti hai apne kaam ko aur bhi diligently karne ki , Kashi,"(Watching you work so hard gives me motivation to work even more diligently, Kashi).

Veer said earnestly.

Kashi blushed, looking down at her feet. "Aap itna kuch mat sochiye. Main bas zimmedari nibha rahi hoon."(Ohh it's nothing like that, I'm just carrying out my responsibilities Veer Ji)

They spent the next half hour talking as it was Lunch Break, their conversation flowing effortlessly. Veer found himself sharing stories from his past, carefully omitting details that would reveal his true identity. Kashi, in turn, opened up about her dreams, responsibilities and aspirations, her eyes lighting up with passion as she spoke.

"Chaliye, Veer ji kuch kha lete hai, phir break over hojaye gi toh time nahi milega, .(Let's go and eat something Veer Ji , before the Break gets over otherwise we won't get time later on). Kashi said looking at the clock

Veer followed her, curious. They walked through the narrow lanes of the market until they reached a small vendor selling roasted corn on the cob. Kashi's eyes sparkled with excitement as she ordered two buttas (roasted corn cob ๐ŸŒฝ).

"Apko butta pasand toh hai na, Veer Ji?(You like roasted corn right, Veer Ji?)" she asked, handing him one.

"Abb pasand ayega ya nahi yeh toh kha kar hi pta chalega" ( I will like it or not, this can only be told after having it), Veer replied with an amusing smile.

Kyu? Apne butta khaya nahi kya pehle kabhi , (Why? Haven't you had it before) , Kashi asked curiously with slight shock expression.

Veer shook his head, amused at her shocked expression. "Nahi aaj, pehli baar." (No today, it's the first time I'm trying it).

"Sach mein? (What?? Really?) She asked disbelief evident on her cute face.

Aap kahi ke koi raja vaja toh nahi, jo kabhi butta try nahi kiya?" (Are you some kind of king that you haven't tried a roasted corn before? ) she teased while laughing.

Veer chuckled mentally, amused by her innocent jest. If only she knew how close to the truth she was. He just shrugged smiling.

He found her playful teasing endearing, a reminder of her simple, unaffected nature that he was beginning to admire more with each passing moment. Despite the weight of his own secrets, Veer appreciated these lighthearted exchanges with Kashi, feeling a sense of freedom and genuine connection in her presence.

They sat on a nearby bench, the aroma of the roasted corn filling the air. Veer took a bite, savoring the smoky, slightly sweet flavor. "Yeh toh sach mein mazedaar hai,"(Wow!! This is really delicious) he said, his eyes twinkling with delight.

Kashi watched him, her heart swelling with happiness. There was something so pure and innocent about sharing this simple pleasure with him. They talked and laughed, the world around them fading into the background.

As they walked back to the factory, Veer couldn't help but feel grateful for this unexpected twist of fate that had brought Kashi into his life. He knew that his mission was far from over, but with Kashi by his side, he felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination.

"Kal milte hain?" (So, will we meet tomorrow?) Veer asked as they reached the factory gate.

Kashi smiled, her eyes shining with affection. "Haan, kal milte hain , Veer Ji (Yes we will meet tomorrow, Veer Ji). Main apka intezaar karungi. (I will wait for you)" She said blushing.

Veer smiled watching her walk away, his heart full of emotions he couldn't quite name.
